I saw this article on page 17 of the Herald Sun.....  "Fans See the Funny Side"

http://www.heraldsun.news.com.au/footy/common/story_page/0,8033,22272740%255E19742,00.html

I understand that the "Legend's Match" was to raise money for cancer research but don't our young Constables have anything better to do with their time...... like law enforcement?

Perhaps some seasoned street veteran police officer or experienced Detective could show them how real policing is done..... ?
I am tipping that it does not involve "play fighting on an oval".

THE Essendon Football Club took infighting to a new level yesterday during the Legends Match at Windy Hill.

Premiership player Paul Barnard was arrested and two umpires were escorted from the ground after an all-in brawl erupted on the field.

Fortunately, yesterday's spirited melee was in jest.

Players, coaches, officials, police officers, and even umpires Mark Fraser and the legendary Glenn James gave their services for charity.

The re-enactment of the infamous 1974 Windy Hill brawl was part of the club's Legends Match.

The Cancer Council fundraiser attracted 4000 Bombers fans to Windy Hill.

Past luminaries - including Terry and Anthony Daniher, Paul Salmon, Simon Madden and Michael Long - pulled on the boots for yesterday's game.

Bombers coach Kevin Sheedy discovered a new talent as a football commentator and Gary O'Donnell suffered lacerations to the head after some overzealous rough-housing with former teammates.

However there were no reports and no arrests this time around.

Yesterday's fundraiser raised more than $4000 for cancer research.
